Job Description:

Southern Utah University welcomes applicants for online adjunct teaching positions in a variety of disciplines. Our online adjunct faculty expertly deliver courses with the highest level of student focus and commitment to sound online teaching and learning. Contracts are offered to online adjunct faculty for 7-week terms. Online adjunct faculty utilize courses that have already been created in Canvas Learning System and then vetted through SUU's internal review process. These instructors interact regularly with their online students through Canvas to ensure a positive learning experience. When applying, candidates should declare a specific discipline in their cover letter. Please do not contact SUU regarding these positions. Qualified applicants may be contacted if/when a position is open.

First Consideration Date for Applicants: 11/19/2022

Duties and Responsibilities:

Typically, online adjunct faculty teach one to two online courses per 7-week term and may occasionally be offered a third. Teaching assignments are extended on an as-needed basis, dependent on enrollments; this varies from semester to semester. Courses are ready for online teaching and require only basic setup, with little to no design work.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Qualifications vary between disciplines. In general, online adjunct faculty should have experience in the field they are applying to teach, and have a Master's degree at minimum. Certifications and evidence of other professional experience may be used as a substitute for a Master's degree in some cases/disciplines and at the discretion of SUU.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching in an online environment is strongly preferred. Active participation in respective professional associations and conference attendance is a great advantage.

Documents Needed to Apply:
