Job Description:
The Tony-award winning UTAH SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL, a professional theatre company in residence at Southern Utah University, is accepting applications for Production Staff for the 2023 season. The Utah Shakespeare Festival produces a seven-show repertory season and three Greenshows across four venues in the summer/fall of each year. Position details below.
Contract dates vary by position.
Most build contracts begin April/May and end June/July. Run contracts Begin in May/June and end September/October. Please check dates in specific job descriptions.
- Lighting Supervisor: Contracts begin Early May and run through late July/Early August.
- Lighting Technician: Contracts begin early/late May and end early July with some extending as late as mid-October.
- FOH Audio Technician: Contracts begin early/late May and end early July with some extending as late as mid-October.
- Audio Technician: Contracts begin early/late May and end early July with some extending as late as mid-October.
- Wireless Mic Technician: Contracts begin early/late May and end early September with some extending as late as mid-October.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Lighting Crew Lead: The Lighting supervisor is responsible for managing the venue lighting team, and installing systems and equipment for each production. The individual is responsible for supporting Lighting Designers in carrying out the production, and for providing lighting support for all productions in assigned venue(s).
- Lighting Technician: Responsible for the execution of lighting on a daily basis for all assigned productions. Operates lighting consoles and/or followspot during final rehearsals and performances.
- FOH Audio Technician: Responsible for setup, operation and changeover during rehearsals and performances. Duties may include live mixing of actors and/or orchestra. Also responsible for setup, maintenance of backstage, intercom, audio and video monitors.
- Audio Technician: Responsible for setup, operation and changeover during rehearsals and performances.
- Wireless Mic Technician: The position works in conjunction with the FOH engineer(s) and designer for set up and use of wired and wireless microphones on the musical. The position is also responsible for other wireless and wired microphone systems used throughout the Festival.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Lighting Crew Lead: Supervisory experience desired. Working knowledge of LED, moving lights, EOS family, DMX over Ethernet, Vectorworks and Lightwright. OSC experience is preferred.
- Lighting Technician: Working knowledge of LED, moving lights, EOS family and DMX over Ethernet. OSC experience is preferred.
- FOH Audio Technician: Working knowledge of various equipment typical of a modern sound system including various wireless & wired equipment, AoIP including Dante protocol, and frequency coordination. OSC experience is preferred. Recording experience is a plus.
- Audio Technician: Working knowledge of various equipment typical of a modern sound system including various wireless & wired equipment and AoIP. OSC experience is preferred. Recording experience is a plus.
- Wireless Mic Technician: Working knowledge of various equipment typical of a modern sound system including various wireless & wired equipment, AoIP, and frequency coordination. OSC experience is preferred. Recording experience is a plus.
