Job Description:

SUU's Community & Professional Development (CPD) is an exciting and entrepreneurial department within the Office of Regional Services, which offers a wide variety of certificate programs, courses, conferences and non-credit-to-credit pathways for adult learners. These offerings are focused on upskilling the workforce, growing businesses/economic opportunity and elevating careers. Additionally, the SUU Leadership Institute delivers leadership training to local and national audiences.

This part-time professional position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Community & Professional Development (CPD) front office daily functions and ensuring that students, community members and stakeholders receive excellent customer service and accurate information. In addition, this position must build clear lines of communication and foster a strong sense of collaboration with key campus, community and industry partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Department Organization & Representation (10% of time)

  • Performs administrative and other office duties including scheduling, coordinating community and professional development events, and collaboration within the department, with stakeholders, and with community partners.

Education & Program Development, Assessment (40% of time)

  • Initiates and organizes digital paperwork, including developing program documents and collecting industry partner information for new programs, preparation of reports, assessments, and other data.
  • Manages multiple projects at a time; consistently communicates with team and partners to create transparency and support forward progress.
  • Edits documents and course materials for conventional accuracy, consistency, cohesion, and academic appropriateness.
  • Collects resources and research related to new content and course development when needed; connects with subject matter experts to gather and curate program material.

Course Supervision, Student & Instructor Support (50% of time)

  • Evaluates and problem-solves student issues, explains processes and pathway options and advises adult learners as needed.
  • Provides student oversight for self-pacing and facilitated courses, manages accountability within courses, and ensures that classes run on schedule.
  • Communicates frequently, consistently, and appropriately with adult learners to provide connection, feedback, and support.
  • Participates in training of instructors and onboarding professionals as course facilitators; provides resources, support, and problem solving services in Canvas.
  • Tracks student progress, completion, feedback, and trending challenges in order to inform course design and revision.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university and/or two years' experience providing educational support and administrative assistance in an educational setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience creating and editing curriculum and providing student support services.
  • Intermediate experience with word processing, email, spreadsheets and other business related software; flexibility and interest in mastering new software solutions.
  • Manages time and resources effectively; practices excellent executive functioning and follows through on assignments and commitments in a timely fashion.
