Job Description:

The Company Manager is, at the core, a customer service provider. They are responsible for coordinating travel, transportation, housing, and lodging, and many of the other day-to-day systems that support the well-being of a large seasonal company of the Utah Shakespeare Festival. They work directly with many Festival constituencies and may complete other assignments as mutually agreed upon with the General Manager and Business Operations Manager. This position also includes working on some nights and weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. In association with the Business Operations Manager and General Manager, develop, submit, manage, and maintain paperwork for the Company Management budget. Submit all required paperwork related to purchases following SUU procurement and purchasing policies. Coordinate submission of travel and other reimbursements due to employees, following SUU processes. 20%
2. Recruit, hire, and train seasonal company management assistants. Create and maintain a work schedule for the department through the season that allows for sufficient coverage in the company management office during USF staff work times. 10%
3. Procure seasonal and other housing. This includes creating and distributing a Request for Proposals with local landlords, coordinating with SUU Housing, creating a housing matrix to plan housing assignments for individual company members, and planning needed lodging for any visitors that may take place outside of the regular summer season. 40%
a. Ensure that housing is set up prior to staff arrivals in accordance with various union requirements and USF policies. This includes establishing utilities, cable & internet, furnishings, cleaning (or procuring cleaning services), and stocking, as necessary. Cleaning of housing should take place prior to staff arrival and after staff departure. Coordinate pet housing for staff with pets and collect pet fees as required.
b. Manage the distribution of keys to the seasonal company (for housing and access to USF facilities). Manage the collection and return of keys to local landlords, SUU Housing, and USF facilities.
c. Oversee the reporting and execution of housing maintenance and work orders with USF Facilities and local landlords.
4. Assist staff with the Worker's Compensation process, which is processed through SUU. Assist staff in completing online forms when needed, provide transportation to healthcare facilities both in emergencies and non-emergencies as needed, and provide follow-up check in to see if injured/unwell staff need further assistance. 5%
5. Maintain, update, and distribute seasonal and full-time staff company handbooks to reflect current SUU and USF policies and procedures. 5%

Additional Duties:

  1. Coordinate and organize social activities and gatherings to promote a sense of community among seasonal and other staff. 5%
  2. Oversee the distribution of seasonal staff mail and packages in coordination with SUU Mail Services and USF Facilities. 5%
  3. Work with business department to improve hiring and other related processes. 5%
  4. Other duties as assigned 5%

Education and Experience Requirements:

1. Strong customer service skills are required.
2. Bachelor's degree or at least two years of relevant experience.
3. Strong organization, planning, and problem-solving skills required.
4. Must work well under pressure and deal calmly with emergencies of various kinds.
5. Must work with many constituencies, including the local business community, local landlords, artists and staff in all USF departments, and University departments.
6. Experience with computers, including Gmail, Word, Excel, and Airtable.
7. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to move a minimum of 50 pounds.
8. Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
9. Ability to professionally handle confidential information
