Job Description:

SUU's Community & Professional Development (CPD) is an exciting and entrepreneurial department within the Office or Regional Services, which offers a wide variety of certificate programs, courses, conferences and non-credit-to-credit pathways for adult learners. These offerings are focused on upskilling the workforce, growing businesses/economic opportunity and elevating careers. Additionally, the SUU Leadership Institute delivers leadership training to local and national audiences.

This part-time professional position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Community & Professional Development (CPD), aiding the assistant director of programs and retention. Focusing on department organization, reporting, and government programming, the professional programs coordinator will be responsible for the following.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Analytics (20% of time)

  • Regularly updates department data, utilizing Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Argos, & Banner by Ellucian.
  • Analyze large and complex data sets to uncover insights and inform decision-making
  • Assists with the creation of reports and key metrics for the department.


Budget & Finance (20% of time)

  • Maintains a record of all purchases made in the department, including allocating purchases in Banner.
  • Monitor and report on budget performance, identifying variances and providing recommendations for corrective action.
  • Monitor and report on the department's financial performance, including revenue, expenses, and profits.
  • Assist with payment of instructors and presenters.


Student Support (30% of time)

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and track progress.
  • Refer students to appropriate campus/career resources and services as needed.
  • Maintain an understanding of department certificates and programs.
  • Assist with reengaging learners with SUU programs.


Event Coordination (20% of time)

  • Coordinate different aspects of in-person events, including catering, presenters, space logistics, & AV.
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, and provide on-site support during events


Other Duties as Assigned (10% of time)


Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or two years of related work experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Banner by Ellucian, and Slate by Technolutions.
  • Intermediate experience with word processing, email, spreadsheets and other business-related software; flexibility and interest in mastering new software solutions.
  • Manages time and resources effectively; practices excellent executive functioning and follows through on assignments and commitments in a timely fashion.
