Job Description:
The College of Education and Human Development seeks an experienced and dynamic elementary teacher/educator to join our Teacher Education program. The department seeks an energetic, collaborative educator to teach undergraduate education majors. Courses taught may include, but not be limited to:
EDUC 1010 - Foundations in Education
EDUC 2100 - Principles of Curriculum and Instruction
EDUC 2200 - Educational Psychology
EDUC 2400 - Schools, Society, and Diversity
ELED 4980 - Student Teaching Supervision
and supporting students as they apply strategies in K-12 general elementary classrooms. This educator will also give feedback to students in multiple practicum settings, as well as build and sustain school/university partnerships, and advance the mission of the Teacher Education program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Successful applicants will participate in high-impact practices such as clinical supervision of practicum students in various elementary school settings. They will have at least four years of K-12 general classroom elementary education experience.
- Teach a full-time undergraduate teaching load of 12 credit hours (tenure track) or 15 credit hours (non-tenure track) per semester depending on faculty designation (i.e., non-tenure track or tenure track).
- Supervise and give feedback to students in field experiences in different practicum locations.
- Collaborate with colleagues, students, and local public school personnel.
- Engage in service to the university and community; and participate in department, college, and university committee work.
- Engage in Teaching, Scholarship, and Service/Leadership in accordance with their assigned responsibilities, as determined by the department depending on faculty designation (i.e., non-tenure track or tenure track).
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Earned M.Ed., Ed.D., Ph.D., or ABD with a firm defense date from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Current State License to teach Elementary Education.
- Minimum of four years of full-time accredited public/private school teaching experience in a regular elementary education (K-6) classroom.
- Experience with mentoring, supporting, and providing feedback to preservice and/or teachers (e.g., instructional coach; student-teacher mentor; university supervisor; professional development facilitator).
- Ability and willingness to create and participate in practicum learning experiences outside of the on-campus classroom.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate clearly and effectively with others.
- Evidence of teaching excellence.
- Evidence of effectiveness in working in course management systems and teaching online.
